Why birds nest under PV
Panels provide shelter from rain and predators. Nesting material blocks airflow, corrosive droppings damage cables and roof membranes, and mites can enter lofts through nearby gaps.

Mesh and clip systems
Galvanised or stainless mesh clipped to panel edges without drilling is standard. Poor fits leave gaps pigeons exploit within weeks. Install at commissioning if local pigeon pressure is high.

Squirrels and cable damage

If nests already exist
Clear nests outside breeding season where wildlife rules allow — professional pest controllers understand licensing. Fit mesh immediately after clearance.
Mesh must not trap heat against panels — use products designed for solar arrays.
